Just a Comment….
from someone on AfterEllen in response to Dorothy Snarker’s commentary on the extroardinary week lesbian tv has had (http://www.afterellen.com/television/2011/3/celebrating-an-extraordinary-week-of-tv-for-lesbian-visibility) . I think this is beautiful, and perfectly describes why Brittana is so important to me. Political action and other serious stuff is definitely essential to social reform in a legal sense, but I believe the media is the most potent tool for real societal change that we have.
“This may not be the only representation people see but these two shows (Glee and Pretty Little Liars) might actually help save someones life. And before anyone scoffs at that statement as it’s just a silly show. Silly shows have a way of reaching people everywhere when more serious things cannot. I had never heard of PFLAG of HRC or anything like that growing up. What I had heard… Mathew Shepard, and Brandon Teena (sorry if i misspelled the names)
But All my Children slipped in under the homophobic radar. Bianca and Maggie are litterally the reason I am still here today.
I know that Glee, and PLL are in the process of saving lives… in surprising ways.”
